SmokeLess Privacy Policy

SmokeLess is a cigarette tracking and habit awareness app created by Smart Curiosity. This policy explains what data the app stores, how optional backup works, and how your choices are handled.

1. Information stored by the app

SmokeLess may store the following information on your device:

Smoking profile settings, such as cigarettes per day, cigarettes per pack, pack price, currency, and interval goal.
Smoking goal and smoking pattern type selected during onboarding.
Cigarette logs, including timestamps.
Missed logs manually added by the user.
Delay or craving events.
Smoking context tags, such as coffee, work, stress, after meal, driving, social, bored, alcohol, break, morning, before sleep, or other.
Custom context text entered by the user.
Achievements and progress.
Notification preferences.
Selected app language.
Backup and restore metadata.

This information is used to calculate your timer, statistics, insights, achievements, reminders, and widgets.

2. Local-first storage

SmokeLess is designed as a local-first app. Most user data is stored locally on your device.

SmokeLess does not sell your personal data.

3. Google Sign-In

SmokeLess may offer optional Google Sign-In so you can use cloud backup features.

If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may provide the app with basic account information such as your email address, display name, and account identifier. This is used only to identify your account for sign-in and backup purposes.

You can use the main local tracking features of SmokeLess without Google Sign-In.

4. Google Drive backup

SmokeLess may offer optional backup and restore using Google Drive.

If you enable cloud backup, SmokeLess stores a backup file in your Google Drive app data folder. This folder is private to the app and is not intended to access your personal Drive files.

The backup may include your profile settings, cigarette logs, missed logs, delay events, context tags, custom context text, achievements, app language, notification settings, and backup metadata.

SmokeLess uses a JSON backup format. SmokeLess does not currently add its own separate app-level encryption to this backup file. Data transfer and storage are handled through Google services and your Google account.

You can delete your cloud backup from the Account & Backup section if this feature is available in your version of the app.

5. Local export and import

SmokeLess may allow you to export your data as a JSON file and import it later.

Exported JSON files may contain your smoking logs, contexts, settings, achievements, and other app data. Please store exported files carefully. If you share the exported file with others, they may be able to read the information inside it.

6. Deleting your data

SmokeLess includes an option to delete all local app data from your device.

Deleting local data removes local logs, profile settings, delay events, achievements, and other locally stored SmokeLess data from the device.

Deleting local data does not automatically delete a cloud backup stored in Google Drive. If you use cloud backup, you may need to delete the cloud backup separately from the Account & Backup section.

7. Notifications

SmokeLess may send optional notifications, such as daily reminders, goal reminders, streak reminders, or smart reminders.

You can control notification settings inside the app. On Android 13 and newer, the app may request notification permission from the system.

8. Widgets

SmokeLess widgets may display your smoke-free timer, quick actions, or insights on your device home screen.

Widget actions, such as logging a cigarette or starting a delay, may update your local SmokeLess data.

9. Ads and consent

SmokeLess may include optional advertising in free versions of the app.

If ads are enabled, they may be served by Google AdMob. Google AdMob may process data such as device identifiers, ad interactions, approximate location, diagnostics, and performance data, depending on your region, consent choices, and Google’s advertising systems.

SmokeLess may use Google’s User Messaging Platform, UMP, to show privacy choices or consent forms where required.

You may be able to manage privacy choices inside the app, depending on your region and app version.

10. Third-party services

SmokeLess may use the following third-party services:

Google Sign-In, for optional authentication.
Google Drive API, for optional cloud backup and restore.
Google AdMob, if ads are enabled.
Google User Messaging Platform, for consent and privacy choices related to ads.
Firebase or Google services, if used for app configuration or diagnostics.

These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

11. Data sharing

SmokeLess does not sell your personal data.

SmokeLess may share or transmit limited data to third-party services only when needed for features you use, such as Google Sign-In, Google Drive backup, or advertising if enabled.

12. Children

SmokeLess is not intended for children. The app is designed for adults who want to track smoking habits and understand personal patterns.

13. Security

SmokeLess uses local storage and, where enabled, Google services for cloud backup. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Please protect your device, Google account, and exported backup files.
